Our Story

A recipe from home, in a shop you'd never find by accident.

Family Kitchen is the new chapter for a little red-brick shop regulars knew for years as Mom's Home Cooking. Earlier this year, Vilayphone Xayalath and her husband Rich took it over. She's been cooking since her days in Laos, and now she pours every pot of broth and pounds every papaya salad the way her mother taught her.

We're off the main road, easy to miss, and that's kind of the point. The people who find us tend to stick around.

Found this place by accident and now I drive 20 minutes out of my way for it. The khao piak is unreal.

Tiny spot, no frills, but the food tastes like somebody's grandmother made it. Papaya salad is the real deal.

Our best-kept secret in Woonsocket. Order the grilled chicken and sticky rice. Thank me later.
